No Waiting Period Health Insurance - Pieces of the Puzzle Part3

In part 2 of our pieces of the puzzle series we discussed some of the features that can be added to a no waiting period health insurance policy like copay options, facility fees, and more.  Today I am going to share with you optional benefits that can be added to make life almost worry free.  well, as worry free as one can be if they have to use a health insurance policy.  Let's dig in.

One of the most popular extra benefits is a vision benefit.  Vision benefits will pay for eye exams, usually once a year. It will buy you new frames, usually once every two years.  You will be eligible for new lenses whether they are bifocal, trifocal, or lenticular lenses.  You will even be able to get contacts with your vision benefits. You will be subject to a copay for services.  Make sure to speak with you broker about the cost and the nuances of how the copay options work.

Supplemental accident insurance can be added to your no waiting period health insurance policy as well.  This will pay out in case of an accident to help you cover the deductible and coinsurance amounts on your policy.  For example, let's say you have a $5,000 deductible and a $3,000 coinsurance maximum.  You break your arm and the total cost is $20,000 to fix you up.  You have chosen to purchase $10,000 of supplemental accident insurance.  Your $5,000 deductible will be covered and if you reach your coinsurance maximum it will also be covered.  You can purchase this coverage as part of the policy or separately.  As always, get advice from your broker as to what will fit best for you and your family.

Dental coverage may also be an option to add to your policy.  Dental benefits mostly cover preventative procedures and some fillings.  Possibly an extraction, depending on the policy you choose. There will always be a deductible and sometimes a waiting period before benefits start.  In my humble opinion a separate dental policy is usually a much better buy for your insurance dollar.

When you are purchasing a no waiting period health insurance policy always discuss the options with your broker.  The extra benefits vary by company and state. your broker may also have access to secondary policies that may fit your needs better.

As always please comment, email us, or check out our website if you have any questions.  We will get back to you as soon as possible.  Thanks for reading!

Cheers!
